# Funding and Approvals

Live trading may require account funding and approvals before a bot can launch.

Paper mode does not require live funding.

## Funding a live trading account

Funding means adding assets to the selected live venue account so it can trade.

If the product says funding is required:

1. Confirm you selected live trading, not paper mode.
2. Confirm the selected venue account is correct.
3. Complete the funding step shown in the product.
4. Refresh the readiness check.

Do not send funds if you are unsure which account or venue is selected.

## Agent approval

Agent approval is a live trading permission step.

Hyperliquid requires agent approval before live bot trading. The approval lets Farside place trades within the approved account rules. It does not grant withdrawal access.

Paper mode does not need agent approval.

## dYdX identity/credential setup

dYdX requires identity/credential setup before live bot trading.

If the product asks for dYdX setup, complete the identity/credential step and then refresh readiness.

## Platform fee approval

Platform fee setup may differ by venue.

Hyperliquid may require a one-time platform fee authorization. dYdX may require reviewing or acknowledging platform fee information.

Read [Fees](/docs/user/fees.md) for details about Farside platform fees, exchange fees, and venue-specific fee setup.

Follow the venue-specific product prompt. Do not assume the same fee setup applies to every venue.

## Readiness refresh

After funding or approval, refresh or return to the setup flow so Farside can re-check account readiness.

If readiness cannot refresh, wait a moment and try again. Contact support if the same issue repeats.
