# Connecting Trading Venues

Venue setup depends on whether you use paper mode or live trading.

## Paper mode

Paper mode does not require a live venue connection.

You may still choose a market data venue where the product asks for one. This controls which venue's market data the paper bot follows.

## Hyperliquid

Hyperliquid live trading requires:

* connecting the Hyperliquid account
* funding the account where required
* approving the trading agent
* completing platform fee setup where required
* passing readiness checks

Agent approval lets Farside trade within the permissions you approve. It does not mean Farside can withdraw funds from your wallet.

## dYdX

dYdX live trading requires:

* dYdX identity/credential setup
* funding where required
* platform fee review or acknowledgement where shown
* passing readiness checks

If the product says dYdX identity setup is required, complete that setup before trying to launch a live bot.

## Platform fee setup

Platform fee setup may differ by venue:

* Hyperliquid can require a one-time authorization before eligible bot trades can include Farside platform fees.
* dYdX may show a platform fee review or acknowledgement instead of the same approval flow.

Read [Fees](/docs/user/fees.md) for details about when Farside platform fees apply and how venue-specific fee setup works.

Follow the product prompt for the selected venue.

## Common venue blockers

* wallet not connected
* venue not connected
* funding required
* agent approval required
* dYdX identity setup required
* platform fee setup required
* readiness check could not refresh
